🔑 What’s the deal with Patreon and private servers?
What Are Private Servers?
Private servers allow GSPro course designers to host exclusive content, separate from the general GSPro server. This is a limited and special privilege granted to designers who demonstrated early and sustained contributions to the GSPro community, particularly during its formative years when we could still name most of the courses on GSPro.
Who Are the Designers with Private Server Privileges?
Currently, only four designers operate private servers with permission to host exclusive courses, and all of us use Patreon to manage subscriptions for access:
– Tekbud (Brent Wells)
– Runpuddrun (Judd Shea)
– Pakman (me)
– The Golf Boy
These private servers reflect the significant efforts made by these designers in shaping the GSPro course library during its early growth. Additionally, the number of exclusive courses on a private server cannot exceed the number of courses the designer has made available on the general GSPro server.
What About Patreon Pages?
Many GSPro designers are starting to use Patreon to gain support for their work, which is a fantastic way to help new talent grow in the community. While these designers may not have private server access or exclusive courses, they are using Patreon as a platform to:
– Accept donations to support their efforts.
– Build a community of supporters who help them refine and improve their craft.
These Patreon pages are an important part of expanding the GSPro community, encouraging new designers to develop their skills and bring fresh ideas to the platform. Supporting them is a great way to contribute to the growth of the course library and the overall GSPro ecosystem.
The distinction here is key:
Private Servers: Operated by the four designers listed above and include exclusive course content tied to a Patreon membership.
Patreon Pages Without Private Servers: May offer other benefits like design input or general support but don’t include exclusive courses or private server access.
Private servers remain a unique and significant aspect of the GSPro community, showcasing the work of designers who made early and sustained contributions to the platform’s growth. All four of us use Patreon to manage subscriber access, ensuring a streamlined way to share exclusive content with our supporters.
🕵️♂️ Who owns the rights to PakGolf Studios course builds?
All PakGolf Studios course builds are original creative works by me, Sonny Pak. While public resources like LiDAR and satellite imagery are used in the design process, each course includes custom terrain shaping, structure placement, texture work, and gameplay tuning—making it a distinctive product.
Pakman Studios is officially licensed by OPCD to monetize GSPro course builds created using its tools—an authorization extended only to designers with a proven track record and history of public contributions.
Whether a course is released on the GSPro general server or my private Patreon server, its access is granted under conditional use. I reserve the right to revoke or remove builds if they are redistributed or re-hosted without permission.
👉 Bottom line: Clients, patrons, and course owners can trust that each build is original, responsibly published, and carefully managed. Unauthorized distribution or re-uploading is not permitted.
🌍 What are GSPro, OPCD, and SGT?
If you’re new to the GSPro community, here’s a quick overview of the key elements that make this amazing platform tick!
GSPro
GSPro is a cutting-edge golf simulator software designed to deliver a realistic and immersive golfing experience. It combines accurate physics with stunningly detailed virtual courses, allowing players to enjoy a round of golf from the comfort of their own homes. Whether you’re practicing, competing, or just playing for fun, GSPro brings the game to life.
OPCD (Open Platform Course Designer)
OPCD is both the name of the tools used to create GSPro courses and the body that oversees course design permissions. OPCD grants designers permission to monetize their work at their discretion, ensuring a balance between community contributions and exclusive content. Without OPCD’s tools and governance, the rich and diverse GSPro course library wouldn’t exist!
SGT (Simulator Golf Tour)
SGT is the entity that hosts the courses included with a GSPro subscription, providing players with an extensive library of high-quality courses. Beyond hosting courses, SGT also organizes tournaments and facilitates leagues, offering a structured way for players to compete and improve their skills. Additionally, SGT operates the main GSPro Discord community, where players can connect, share tips, and coordinate league play.
How It All Comes Together
Thanks to GSPro’s advanced simulator platform, OPCD’s designer tools and oversight, and SGT’s course hosting, tournament organization, and league facilitation, the GSPro ecosystem offers something for everyone—from casual golfers to dedicated competitors.
